You don’t have to sit at home staring at the wall to save money on the weekend. It doesn’t take a lot of money to have fun. You’ll be surprised how far a little imagination and a small budget can go.

Millions of Americans are struggling with debt and seeking debt relief. This process does not mean that you cannot still have fun. Here are few fun weekend events you can enjoy with your family and friends:

Minor League Baseball
Minor league baseball games are fun for everyone. You get the experience of a major league game at a fraction of the cost. Ticket prices range from about $6 to $11 per seat. Additionally, players are more approachable and more likely to talk with kids and sign autographs.

Dollar Theaters, Matinees
Almost every major city has a dollar theater. Movie releases that are a few months old, but have not yet made it to the movie rental stores, are shown at the dollar theater. Such theaters get their names from their ticket price. Most of these theaters have one night per week that ticket prices are as low as 50 cents.

If you’re just dying to see a new release, then consider going during the day time to get the matinee price. These prices are usually a couple of dollars off of the evening priced tickets.

Free Museum Admission
Usually once per year museums will offer free admission. Some museums team up with corporate sponsors and offer free events such as late night tours, book readings and the like. Most of the time, admission to such events is free or extremely discounted. Check your local area to see which museums participate in these programs.

University and College Events
Go to the symphony, see an opera, see an art show or enjoy a sporting event at a university near you. Ticket prices are much more affordable than commercial venues, and the younger crowd attending can add a degree of exuberance.

A fun weekend does not have to break the bank. Try these tips and treat your family or friends to a fun day or evening. Also, read your local newspaper for news on local fairs, carnivals and street parties that are entertaining and free.
